Woodworking has been there from the very beginning. Seeing my father craft functional pieces in our home, ignite a lifelong journey of exploration, learning, and creativity—surrounded by teachers, artisans, and friends. Whenever the opportunity arises, I find myself drawn back to wood.
Working with wood has a profound healing effect. This is a space where design and craftsmanship seamlessly blend in an organic, intuitive, handmade process – free from artificial constraints. Here, the material itself takes center stage as we follow the path where skill and imagination intertwine with the wood’s unique characteristics.
Inspiration flows from the very essence of each individual piece of wood—its unique properties, shapes, and patterns. It also draws from a deep well of both cherished traditional and contemporary design traditions. The result is furniture that not only functions flawlessly but also encapsulates the enduring spirit of this remarkable and timeless material.
Aspiring to attain mastery, I aim to strike a balance between mind, hands, and heart – a balance that encompasses precision, patience, trust, and intuition. These qualities come to life through all senses while working with wood.
Furniture and architecture seamlessly merge into a unified entity, despite their distinct dimensions. With a background in architecture, I perceive furniture as miniature buildings, where the core concept is intricately woven into the smallest details. Essentially, furniture and architecture share the same essence – they simply inhabit different scales.
My process primarily revolves around traditional methods, stemphasizing wood joinery and a diverse array of hand tools, such as chisels, saws, and planes. I am working with sustainably sourced trees, using minimal or entirely natural finishes.
I believe that crafting high-quality, long-lasting furniture from natural materials fosters harmonious relationship with the environment, enhancing the quality of life for us and future generations. Ultimately, design draws inspiration from nature, harnessing the inherent properties of wood and time-honored techniques to create pieces that possess a timeless quality, transcending trends and remaining relevant across generations.
